Carmageddon, the hit racing game from 1997, was released on Android back in 2013. And for the first 24 hours the game was available for free as part of a promotion, before the developers, Stainless Games, made the game a paid one.
This of course, was done by making two versions of the game available on the Play Store, with the free version pulled from public access, which meant only the users who had managed to get it the first time, would be able to download it even if they uninstalled it.
Naturally that version of the game, did not receive any updates. There was a third version released with limited features, but it has not been updated from 2014. To be honest even the paid version hasn’t been updated since 2014 either, but it is still playable on most devices.
Stainless Games made a surprise announcement yesterday, which says that Carmageddon will be released for free with future updates on iOS. A user asked the developers on Facebook, whether the Android version will be getting the same treatment, to which the answer was
An update will be coming shortly to the Android version and that will also be available for free.

As of now, we can still see the $0.99 price tag on the Carmageddon Play Store listing, but expect it to go free in the near future.
