Cyanogen Inc has been under flak for a week, over a controversial exclusivity agreement with Micromax.
The announcement led to OnePlus expressing its disappointment, and plans to release it’s own OS for the OnePlus One.
Today, Cyanogen broke their silence and revealed that they will continue to provide updates for the OnePlus One, including the global devices which have been sold in India. The news came via a negatively worded blog post, allow me to quote a line of it here.
To clarify misinformation out there, the OnePlus One will get OTA firmware updates for all global devices, including global devices for our users in India.
Basically, it was an attempt to steer themselves away from fault. But the message clearly says “global devices sold in India”. Many people in the Country had ordered the global version of the phone before it’s launch here, so it is unclear whether “global devices” includes the Indian version of the OnePlus One, which is available on Amazon.in.
[Update] Cyanogen Inc has announced that it will not provide updates for the OnePlus One devices sold in India.
