The Dictionary.com Android app just got better.
Now you can get word definitions without a network connection.
The latest update to the app adds the most requested feature, offline support.
You can view all the content, i.e over 2,000,000 definitions and synonyms from Dictionary.com & Thesaurus.com when you don’t have an internet connection. To enable the offline database, h=just navigate to the apps setting’s menu and tap on the Enable offline dictionary option and the app will download the database.
You will have to enable the option once it has been downloaded, and you are good to go.
The update also brings a new Translator feature, which supports over 30 languages. Another interesting feature is the ability to trace the origin & history for almost every word.
They have also added Optional Premium Upgrades for
- New Rhyming Dictionary
- 850,000 Example Sentences
Even if you do not want the paid upgrades, you can still get the ad-supported yet incredibly useful Dictionary.com app for free from Google Play:

This should provide some solid competition to Merriam-Webster and Word Web.
