Just few days back, we reported that Motorola is rolling out Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean upgrade for its Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR Maxx devices. We expected Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean upgrade for these devices to bring usual enhancements from Jelly Bean like Google Now, Better notification center, New features with Camera, Keyboard with swipe etc. along with Motorola own customizations usually present on Motorola devices.
Looks like we were wrong. The change log of this Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean upgrade shows a major deviation from Motorola showing great influence from Google. The upgrade removes most of the Motorola own customizations (which usually Android geeks hate on any device).
The Removed Applications from Motorola in this upgrade are:
- Social Location,
- MOTOACTV,
- MOTOPRINT,
- My Gallery (replaced with a standard Google Gallery app for viewing photos and videos)
- My Music (replaced with Google Play Music app)
- Alarm and Timer (replaced by Google Clock),
- Verizon Video on Demand
Removed Widgets
- My Gallery,
- My MOTOCAST,
- My Music,
- Picture Slideshow,
- Social Location,
- Sticky Note,
- Weather & World Clock
This deviation marks a greater influence of Google on Motorola and it brings Motorola devices much closer to Nexus devices which come with Stock Android without any manufacturer customizations. Perhaps, in future we may get a Nexus device from Motorola too.
