A report emerging from China says that the EMUI 8 Oreo update will be released for many Huawei and Honor devices. Why is this surprising?
That’s because the devices are previous generation phones, which were released in 2015 and 2016. How often do you see companies updating devices which are over 2 years old? So, I think you would agree with us when we say that it is really nice of the Chinese company to update the phones for users who still use them.
If only other companies follow this move, and upgrade their devices, Android OS fragmentation won’t be such a huge problem like it is now.
So, without further ado, here is the list of devices which will get the EMUI 8 Oreo update:
- Huawei Mate 8
- Huawei P9
- Huawei P9 Plus
- Honor 8
- Honor V8
- Honor Note 8
- Honor 6X
The EMUI 8 Oreo update is expected to roll out to users in China, on a test basis. The company will allow a limited number of users to participate in the beta program, everyday from July 9 to July 15. There is no clear information about the update’s general availability.
We certainly hope that Huawei will bring the EMUI 8.0 based on Android 8.0 Oreo, to some of the devices which were released in India.
