Sports broadcasting giant ESPN, have launched a new app focused on Football, and this year’s World Cup Tournament in Brazil.
In addition to news from the WC, the app also lets you follow your favourite clubs and competitions (Leagues & Cups)
Disappointingly, you must register to their service to just “add a favourite team”. You can sign up via Facebook, or by simply registering for a new ESPN account.
Once you add a favourite team, you can set up reminders for club news, match news (kick-off, half time, fulltime), goals, statistics, etc.
You can also do the same by adding a Country as your favourite World Cup team and receive notifications related to it. The World Cup section of the app could come in very handy during the tournament. In addition to the three sections from the main UI (explained below), it also has a Table section, which displays the results of the Groups.
The main UI of the app consists of three sections: Scores, News, and Now.
The Scores section shows you the scores of recent matches, and also information about upcoming matches.
The News section, obviously delivers News related to Football teams. You can also watch key TV Clips with commentary, from the News tab.
The Now section displays tweets from Football Clubs, Players Football Journalists, etc.
You can download ESPN FC Soccer & World Cup for free from Google Play.

I am clueless to why they named the app after “Soccer”, since it is not even popular in the U.S, and the rest of the world do not address the sport as such.
