During the MWC 2016 in February, Gionee announced Gionee S8 with 5.5-inch FHD display with 3D touch, 4 GB RAM and full metal body. Gionee S8 sports a 5.5 inch full HD AMOLED display powered by 1.95 GHz Octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 (MT6755) processor with Mali T860MP2 GPU and 64GB Internal memory along with support for expandable storage up to 128 GB via micro SD card, running Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) based operating system with Amigo OS 3.2 on top of it.
The company is set to announce the successor of S8 i.e. Gionee S9 pretty soon. We can say this, thanks to the TENAA listing of the device revealing full technical specifications of Gionee S9. As per TENAA listing, two models of S9 i.e. GIONEE S9 and GIONEE S9T are in works and will be launched. Both variants sports a 5.5 inch full HD 1080p display and are powered by 1.8 GHz / 2.0 GHz Octa-core processor with 4 GB of RAM. Both variants come with 64 GB of internal storage along with support for expandable storage via microsd card upto 128 GB and run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based operating system.
Both the variants come with a main rear dual camera setup with two camera sensors of 13 MP + 5 MP and a front shooter of 13 MP for selfies. The listing doesn’t give any details on make of the camera sensors. The phone is backed by a battery of 3,000 mAh which incidentally is the same capacity as that of Gionee S8.
The device measures 154.2 × 76.4 × 7.4 (mm) which means it is 7.4 mm thick and weighs 166.5 grams. The S9T variant weight though is listed as 200.8 grams but we assume both variants weigh the same i.e. 166.5 grams as the dimensions and battery capacities of both the devices are same. In terms of connectivity, they come with support for 4G LTE along with VOLTE. In terms of color options, it will be available in Golden color.
At the moment, we have no information on possible ETA on the launch date of Gionee S9. Stay tuned at Androidpure and we will keep you updated.
