Need for Speed doesn’t “need an introduction”, every gamer out there has heard about it and probably played it on a computer or a PlayStation or an iPhone and even on Android devices.
Need for Speed Shift is one of the best racing games available for Android, especially as it runs great even on some older devices. This game came in 2010, but still it’s one of my favorite games. You can choose from a variety of cars, including a Lamborghini, and customize them with accessories that you can unlock by winning races and scoring points. The career mode takes you through various tracks in London,Tokyo, Chicago and perhaps more, I haven’t finished the game.
EA have really done a great job with the game’s graphics. There are various camera modes including third person view which makes driving the car even more fantastic. The game also features some awesome soundtracks, so driving is more fun.
Tilt the phone left and right to control the car, and with the cockpit view, it actually feels like you are driving one.I hate the drifting part though , I don’t get the flick thing accurately, need more practice. Sigh!
The game works fine on my Optimus One running Ice Cream Sandwich. One annoying thing with this game is it doesn’t keep the screen while playing, and touching the screen applies the Car’s brakes. Well, duh! How could they forget this? You could change the display time-out settings for your device or you could use an app like KeepScreen to prevent the device from sleeping. The app doesn’t require a rooted device, and its free.
The game will check for updates on start-up, but works offline as well. Just give it a minute to time-out.
Need for Speed: Shift for Android normally costs $4.99, but you can get it for $0.99 for a limited time from Google Play. That’s just 50 Rupees for us Indians. That’s an irresistible offer!
Disclaimer: The game will download 100+ mb of data once you install it, so make sure you have plenty of free space.
