With the start of Google I/O 2014 keynote, Google has just announced “Android one” by which Google is working with local manufacturers to produce smartphones under $100.
The main features of these Android devices include
- Stock Android operating system just like Nexus devices
- Automatic updates
- Auto-app installs
The initial smartphones under these projects will be launched in India. Google is collaborating with three local manufacturers / OEMs in India to roll out these devices. The Indian manufacturers which form part of this program are:
- Micromax Mobiles
- Karbon Mobiles and
- Spice Mobility
One of devices from Micromax was teased during the keynote which comes with 4.5 inch screen, dual SIM support and FM Radio support.
