Do you remember the feature which Google added to Chrome for Android, which allowed websites to push notifications to your device?
Well, the feature just got a useful addition.
Google and Facebook worked together to bring support for displaying Facebook Notifications in Chrome. This will allow the user to get the notifications from the m.facebook.com mobile website, even when the Facebook app has not been installed on the device. The reason behind this move, is that the Facebook app requires a lot of storage space, which some devices lack.
I think that it has an added bonus in that your battery won’t be drained as much, as when the Facebook app was installed.
How to enable Facebook Notifications in Google Chrome for Android:
- Open the Chrome app on your device, and visit m.facebook.com
- Login to your Facebook account.
- Once the authentication has been completed, you will get a pop-up to show notifications from Facebook (like the one below).
- Accept it and you’re good to go.
