Google Hangouts 4.0 has been released for Android devices,
The update brings a much needed Material Design for the app.
In addition, to the UI overhaul, Google has added a new compose button to the Hangouts app, allowing users to start a new chat or a new group with ease.You can see the new UI in the above image.

Hangouts 4.0 also adds new file attachment options, to send pictures from your device, take photos and send them, your location, emoji and more.
An important change is that Hangouts now allows you to send multiple photos at once.
The Mountain View company, says that it has tweaked the performance of Hangouts, by fixing bugs to speed up message delivery, as well as to make the app battery friendly. Hangouts Dialer now supports Outbound Caller ID, and you can also use the app for group MMS messages with Google Voice.
Additionally, Google Hangoits now works on Android Wear, which supports the voice command: “Ok Google send a Hangouts message”. Oh, and you can set a custom status message as well.
Google Hangouts 4.0 with Material Design is rolling out to Android users today and should be available to all users soon.
