The VP of Product for Google+, Bradley Horowitz, announced that the Google Hangouts app is getting a slew of new features in an upcoming update today.
The app will have 16 sets of stickers, reminiscent of the ones on the popular IM and VOIP app, Viber.
Here are some screenshots of the stickers:
The update will also add a couple of Easter eggs, you can type “woot” or “happy birthday” into a conversation to see a relevant sticker.
Location Sharing and Last Seen Status :
Hangouts will now show a “share location” option, when someone asks you a question like “Where are you?” All you need to do is tap the button to share your location with the recipient.
The app will display a status below the username, to show you when your contact was online. This feature will not be added today, and will roll out in a few weeks, according to Google’s Rhett Robinson.
The app will get video filters for video calls, which you can access by swiping on your screen. Filters include sepia, vignette, black & white, and more. Additionally, with this update you will be able to add your phone number, so your friends who already have your number can find you on Hangouts.
