Google have announced that they will be releasing a software development kit for wearable devices running on Android.
According to CNET, the company are rumored to unveil an operating system for Smartwatches this month.Google’s Senior Vice President of Android, Apps, and Chrome, Sundar Pichai made the following announcement at the SXSW Conference in Austin, Texas.
“In two weeks we are launching the first developer SDK for Android. “That will lay out the vision for developers in how we see this market working.”
Wearable devices are becoming hugely popular, especially Smartwatches, with the likes of Pebble, Samsung Galaxy Gear, Huawei TalkBand, to name a few. Google will also be competing in the smartphone sector, and are expected to launch a watch manufactured by LG at the Google I/O conference in June.
