Google India has announced that it will no longer host the Great Online Shopping Festival aka GOSF in the Country.
The reason behind this logic is quite simple, India has already become an online shopping superpower.
According to the infographic from Google, (pictured above), there were just 130 million Internet users in 2012, in India, and only 8 million of those actually shopped online, which put the value of the industry at $2 billion.
Three years later, there are now over 350 million Internet users in India, of which over 50 million shop online, which values the Industry at a massive $10 Billion.
Though Google doesn’t mention them by name directly, it does attribute the success of the online shopping industry, to e-commerce companies, we know it is talking about Flipkart, Amazon India and Snapdeal. It is because these three offer terrific sales for Android phones, tablets, and other electronics all year round, that there is no logic in hosting a GOSF once year.
Google says there will be over 100 million by 2016.
