Bluetooth Speakers are gaining popularity amongst Smartphone and Tablet users Worldwide.

GumRock Black

Not only do they provide a hassle free wireless experience, they also serve as a fashion statement.

Today we will be reviewing the Gum Rock Bluetooth Portable Suction Speaker Stand.

Build Quality:

The speaker is made of plastic and fine rubber, which is also splash resistant which means you can use it your bathroom or the kitchen. Not only does it work as a speaker, but also as a stand for your tablet or your phone. You can also attach it to a mirror or even use it in your car.

The bottom part of the speaker is actually a suction cap which sticks back to your devices, so you can rest the device on your desk. The bottom part also has an LED light which indicates the device is on.

There are 3 buttons on one side of the speaker, for controlling the volume and skipping tracks. You can also answer calls using the built-in microphone. There is a flap on the other side, opening which will give you access to the Speaker’s Power button and the USB charging port. The flap is a little flimsy, so use caution while opening and closing it.

Colours:

The Gum Rock is available in 4 colors – Black, Blue, Green and Orange

Connectivity:

The Gum Rock uses Bluetooth 3.0 to connect with your devices, and pairing them is a piece of cake. Just turn on bluetooth in your device and on the speaker (using the switch) and your device should say it is connected to the speaker. You should also hear a beep sound from the speaker.

There were no lags or stuttering, even when I tested it by placing the speaker at one end of the room, and the device at the other end.

Playback Quality:

The sound quality of the speaker is crystal clear even on a high volume.  Speaking of which, the playback volume is quite loud, you may not want to set it at a high point to annoy your neighbours. I tested this speaker for quite a few days both with my phone and my tablet. The tests I performed were quite simple, just what the average user would need: listening to music, playing games and watching videos. And I have zero complaints about it.

Technical Specifications:

  • Bluetooth: Bluetooth 3.0, works upto 35 Feet.
  • Battery: 4500mAh Li-ion which can last upto 6 hours of playback.
  • Voltage: 3.7 V
  • Output power: 3W
  • Driver: 40mm 4 Ohms 3W

Here is a video review by MobileFun:

Pros:

  • Good build quality.
  • Suction stand works great.
  • Excellent sound quality even on a high volume. (Upto 80% max or so)
  • Affordable Price.
  • Good choice of colours.

Cons:

  • Lack of a battery indicator LED.

Conclusion:

If you are looking for great sound quality in a bluetooth speaker this one is bang for buck. You can buy the Gum Rock Bluetooth Portable Suction Speaker Stand for $31.99.
