Rumors have floated for some time about Xiaomi working on its own set of SOC chips or processors to power their future smartphones instead of Qualcomm or Mediatek, though the details were not good enough till today. Today we have more specific details about Xiaomi’s own Pinecone SOC chips that are being developed by the company. A rumor surfaced on the Chinese social network Weibo gives us all these specific details.
As per the rumors, Xiaomi is working on two Pinecone SoC chips with model numbers V670 and V970. Out of these two, V670 core design is complete and it uses 4 x A53 + 4 x A53 octa-core architecture with Mali T860 MP4 GPU, clocked at 800MHz. The processor uses the 28nm process.
