Honor 7X was launched in India in December 2017 with Android 7.0 (Nougat) based operating system with EMUI 5.1 on top of it. The Company had promised to bring Android 8.0 (oreo) update to the device and seems to be fulfilling that promise. Huawei Honor is rolling out the Honor 7X Android 8.0 Oreo update for consumers in India and it should reach you soon (in phases) if you own the device.
Honor 7X Android 8.0 Oreo update brings some new features in addition to the operating system upgrade. Some of these features include 3 new key feature which are:
- Ride mode,
- Game suite &
- Shortcut to Paytm.
The new Ride mode feature (needs to be enabled first under settings) once enabled, the caller will be notified that the user is currently riding, and cannot answer calls. The feature, however, allows the caller to call the rider by pressing numeric 1 in-case of urgency or emergency.
The second feature Game Suite lets user can play games uninterrupted as they can set their Honor 7X on different game modes like:
- Gaming Mode – where the phone will automatically optimize for the gaming experience
- Power saving mode – where the phone will be optimized on the basis of the battery
- Smart Mode – This mode smartly optimize phone depending on the current usage and balance the power consumption & performance.
- Uninterrupted gaming – all onscreen notification will be hidden except for calls, alarms and low battery, the device will not ring or vibrate for calls and alarms
- Lock navigation keys – you can lock the off-screen navigation keys to avoid accidental presses during the game.
The PayTM integration, users will now be able to access the PayTM payment page by assigning a unique fingerprint for PayTM which redirects the user directly to the payment page.
Other features include one-hand operation navigation dock, pinned shortcuts, customized themes, simplified settings, accessibility to recently deleted documents or in general phone management with EMUI 8.0.
Honor 7X sports a metal unibody design which comes with 5.93-inch Full HD+ 18:9 (2160 x 1080 pixels) 2.5D curved glass display and is powered by Octa-Core Huawei Kirin 659 processor along with 4 GB of RAM. In terms of storage, it comes in two variants with 32 GB and 64Gb storage, along with support for expandable storage up to 256GB via microSD card.
Moving to camera department, it features a dual camera module at the rear consisting of 16MP primary camera sensor with LED flash along with secondary 2MP camera sensor, while on the front it features an 8MP shooter. The fingerprint sensor is placed on the rear panel.
