As scheduled, Honor 8 is launched officially at an event in China. After numerous leaks including one just few hours before the official launch, Honor 8 is now official. Honor 8 sports a 2.5D 5.2-inch Full HD 1080p display with a pixel density of 423 ppi and is powered by Huawei 2.3 GHz Kirin 950 octa-core processor & Mali T880 GPU. As earlier leaks suggested, there are two variants in terms of RAM i.e. lower variant comes with 3 GB of RAM whereas the higher variant comes with 4 GB of RAM. Similarly, there are two storage variants too i.e. 32 GB and 64 GB variant. It also comes with support for expandable storage via microsd card up to 128 GB.
In terms of camera, it comes with Dual 12 MP sensor with 6P lens, f/2.2 aperture at the back similar to Huawei P9 & P9 Plus and a 8 MP front shooter with f/2.4 aperture for selfies. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system with EMUI 4.1.
It measures 145.5 x 71.0 x 7.45 mm and weighs 153 grams. The phone is backed by a battery of 3000 mAh and comes with support for fast charging. It comes with Dual SIM card slot but uses a hybrid slot which means that you can either use the second SIM or a microsd card. It comes with a USB C type port instead of Micro USB port. Fingerprint sensor is located on the back panel.
Overall, we have three variants of Honor 8 available, which are as follows along with the price:
- 3 GB + 32 GB : 1999 Yuan (~Rs. 20,000 or $300)
- 3 GB + 64 GB : 2299 Yuan (~Rs. 23,000 or $345)
- 4 GB + 64 GB : 2499 Yuan (~Rs. 25,000 or $375)
The initial 3 GB + 32 GB variant will be available in Pearl White, Sunrise Gold, Midnight Black, Sakura Pink and Sapphire Blue color options. Whereas the higher variants will be available only in three colors except Sakura Pink and Sapphire Blue. These devices will be sold via flash sales in China at the moment and registrations for same starts today for the sales starting July 19th. We have no information on whether Honor 8 will arrive in other countries such as India and when.
