There are times when users want to flash a custom recovery on their device, to flash custom apps and ROMs.
Many users aren’t comfortable in flashing recoveries or ROMs, believe me ,installing a custom recovery is actually too easy.
Make sure you have rooted your Nexus 7, if not head to this post and follow the steps. Then follow the steps below.
All you need to do is install one of the apps below:
ROM Manager [app]com.koushikdutta.rommanager[/app]
ROM Toolbox Lite [app]com.jrummy.liberty.toolbox[/app]
Once you have installed the app of your choice, just tap the install Custom Recovery button and let the app download it for you. I recommend CWR Touch as it is easy to use but TeamWin’s recovery is good too.

Reboot the device to recovery mode, and you should see a new one in place of the stock recovery. And a much better one if I may say so.
