A few days ago, WhatsApp announced that it had added support for sharing HD photos. Now, the popular messaging app has gained a new feature, you can now send HD videos in WhatsApp.
The Meta-owned company had confirmed recently that it would add support for the feature, but Android Police says that already seems to available for users. We were able to test it on our phones, and can confirm that the messaging app indeed has the option.
As you may know, HD videos have a higher resolution, and are clearer than SD videos. But this also means that HD videos have a larger file size. HD videos in chat will have an HD icon below them.
How to send HD videos in WhatsApp
Sending an HD video on WhatsApp is quite similar to sharing HD photos. Just tap the paper clip button, and select a video that you want to share from your Gallery. If the video is in a high resolution, you should see the HD button at the top of the screen in the media selection screen. Tap on it, and WhatsApp will ask you to choose the quality to be used for sending the video. By default, it sends the videos in SD quality, aka Standard Quality. Select the HD quality and tap on the send button to share a higher resolution video with your family and friends.
Like the option to share HD images, the ability to send HD videos was also available in WhatsApp beta before it was rolled out to the stable channel.
If you don’t see the option to share HD videos or photos, update WhatsApp from the Google Play Store or iOS App Store.
