HTC has just announced another mid range smartphone HTC Desire 728G Dual for a price of Rs. 17,990. It will be available with mobile operators and major retailers in India starting today. The pricing of the device puts it into the same category as that of OnePlus X and Moto X Play.
HTC Desire 728G Dual sports a 5.5-inch 720p HD display and is powered by 1.3 GHz Octa-Core MediaTek MT6753 processor along with Mali-T720 GPU & 1.5 GB of RAM. The device runs on Android 5.0 (Lollipop) operating system with Sense UI.
It comes with 16 GB of internal storage along with support for expandable memory up to 2TB with microSD card.
In terms of camera, it features a 13 MP main rear camera with LED Flash, BSI sensor, f/2.2 aperture, 27mm lens, 1080p video recording and another 5 MP front-facing camera with BSI sensor, f/2.8 aperture, 33.7 mm lens, 1080p video recording.
In terms of connectivity, it supports 3G HSPA+, WiFi b/g/n Bluetooth 4.1, GPS with a-GPS and comes with Dual (GSM + GSM / CDMA) nano SIM slot. The press release doesn’t mention anything about 4G LTE support which is absurd for any device priced at ~18K.
It is powered by a 2800 mAh battery.
Considering the price of almost 18K with no 4G LTE and not so good hardware specifications, we wonder what prompted HTC to price it at 18K.
