The HTC One Mini 2 was launched just a year ago, in May 2014, but it appears that the phone has already reached its end of support for updates.
HTC has openly stated that the company will not be updating the One Mini 2 to Android 5.0 Lollipop.
The news comes from HTC’s official Twitter account. A user asked HTC about “When the HTC one mini 2 will be updated?”. HTC responded by saying, “We determined that Lollipop on the One mini 2 will not provide an optimal experience; it isn’t scheduled to receive the update”
It isn’t actually breaking news though, we reported about this last week, when HTC announced the Android Lollipop update roadmap for its flagship phones, the HTC One M8 and its Dual SIM variant.
The news wasn’t lightly received by fans, who criticized the decision. And they do have a point, the HTC One Mini 2 is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processorand has 1 GB RAM. Phones with similar specifications such as the Moto G series, have been updated to Lollipop and have been performing adequately well.
