A set of photos of the Huawei Mate S2, have been leaked by a user on Chinese social network, Weibo. The images aren’t exactly convincing, but then again this is just a leak, so take it with a pinch of salt.
This is allegedly the Mate S2. The phone seems to have massive bezels, but so did the Huawei Nexus 6P, so it’s not entirely shocking. What is more surprising is the fact that rumours about the Mate S2 does not feature a curved display, aka an Edge display, as previous leaks suggested. Also there aren’t dual speakers on the front either.
Look at the back panel of the phone, which does resemble the Nexus 6P’s.
The fact that the bottom part of the panel is slightly blurred, and the power and volume keys, which are clearly visible in the above image, cannot be seen on the first picture, makes us a bit skeptical about the authenticity of this leak.
But since Google’s 2015 flagship is not available in China, this could be a good way for Huawei to launch a phone with a similar design.
And here is an image of the original Nexus 6P in comparison.
The Nexus 6P has a screen to body ratio of about 71.4%, which is quite close to what the original Huawei Mate S has (73%). But the massive transition from the almost bezel less design on the Mate S, to one with massive bezels, is quite a bit odd indeed.
