Huawei is set to officially launch the successor to Huawei Nova 2 in the form of Huawei Nova 2s at a launch event in Bejing scheduled for December 7 which coincidently is the same day when Xiaomi is set to announce Redmi 5 / Redmi 5 Plus in China. Huawei Nova 2 was launched a few months back in May 2017, in China. The announcement for the Dec 7 launch event comes from the official Weibo handle of the company which released a teaser for the upcoming event along with the date.
The teaser image above comes with a marking of “2S” along with two dual camera modules suggesting that the upcoming Nova 2S may come with dual cameras both at front and rear, making a total of four cameras in the smartphone. Even though the company is yet to announce any relevant details about Nova 2s features or specifications, the images of the device have allegedly appeared on Chinese certification agency TENAA confirming the dual camera at the rear and a full view 18:9 display instead of conventional display. The TENAA images also reveal a home button at the bottom of the display which also embeds the fingerprint sensor. Till date, we have seen devices with full view 18:9 display but with fingerprint sensors only on the rear.
Based on the rumours, Huawei Nova 2s is expected to feature a 6-inch full-screen display and is powered by Huawei Kirin 960 processor along with 6GB of RAM. In terms of camera, it is rumoured to feature a dual camera module at rear consisting of 20MP + 16MP dual lens camera sensors with f/1.8 aperture while on the front, it comes with a 20MP dual lens sensor with LED flash.Other features include support for fast face recognition security unlock and NFC, with built-in HiFi chip. The phone runs on the Android-based operating system with EMUI 8.0 on top.
