Xiaomi did not release a flagship device to succeed the Mi 4 in 2014, and instead concentrated on devices like the Xiaomi Mi4i and the Mi4c as its main sellers.
There has been a lot of speculation about the next phone in the flagship series, the Mi 5.
Many rumours pointed to the fact that the upcoming device will be powered by the latest offering from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 820 chipset, which was unveiled a few months ago. Hugo Barra, the Vice President of International for Xiaomi, confirmed on Twitter today that the Xiaomi Mi 5 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC.
My own Mi 5 just rolled off our production line today and… into my pocket. Qualcomm Snapdragon 820. So worth the wait :)

This suggests that the launch of the Xiaomi Mi 5 is imminent.
