HTC just announced it’s 2016 Flagship device i.e. HTC 10 powered by 64-bit Quad Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor clocked at 2.2 GHz with 4 GB of RAM. But here is some bad news for consumers in India who wanted to grab HTC 10 when launched in India.
It appears that HTC will be launching a lower variant of their flagship device, that too with a new name of HTC 10 Lifestyle. HTC 10 is not listed on HTC India website and you can only access the HTC 10 Lifestyle on their website.
Before we put some voice to our disappointment with HTC decision of launching a lower variant in India, lets check out how the Lifestyle variant differs from the actual flagship. Basically there are three basic hardware differences between the two devices:
- Lifestyle variant is powered by 1.8 GHz Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor instead of the latest SOC from Qualcomm i.e 2.2 GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 820 of HTC 10.
- Lifestyle variant comes with 3 GB of RAM instead of 4 GB of RAM.
- Lifestyle variant comes with USB 2.0, Type-C whereas the flagship comes with USB 3.1 Gen 1, Type-C.
Everything else remains same as of the flagship both in terms of design/ Build and hardware specifications. Please refer our launch post to know more about the hardware specifications and other details of HTC 10.
The Lifestyle variant is priced at 3799 Yuan (~INR 38,000) for the 64 GB variant as per HTC china official account (It appears that the particular Weibo message is now deleted but we have the image, reproduced here).
The price and availability of HTC 10 Lifestyle is yet to be announced.
Honestly, we do feel that HTC should release both these variants for the Indian smartphone consumers. If they just release the lower variant i.e. Lifestyle, many HTC fans / consumers are going to be disappointed for sure.
