Infocus M2 was the first smartphone launched by Infocus in India targeted towards entry-level budget conscious consumer segment. The device is priced Rs. 4999 and is available via Snapdeal only. Even though Infocus was an unknown name, yet the M2 smartphone sales went well and it even managed to create some buzz in consumers having a budget of just Rs. 5,000.
The device runs Android 4.4 Kitkat as its operating system. Even though Infocus never promised a Lollipop update, yet many consumers were hopeful to get at least one major upgrade i.e Android 5.0 Lollipop sooner or later.
But it appears that Infocus has no future plans for providing an Android 5.0 Lollipop update (even if it’s not an OTA update) to its first device in India i.e Infocus M2. This is clarified in the reply given to one of the customer query about the Lollipop update on the company’s official Facebook page. Checkout the screenshot below which reproduces the conversation.
The statement clearly says:
Unfortunately, the Lollipop update will not be available for M2. The phone however, is packed with a whole lot of features to maximize your experience.
We do hope that the company changes it’s stand for this first device in India, though the chances of this happening is very less.
