The much awaited the Sailfish OS-powered Jolla smartphone has finally arrived in India priced at Rs. 16,499 and will be available exclusively via Snapdeal. Jolla is a company formed by a group of former Nokia employees. The device uses the Sailfish OS mobile operating system developed by a few former employees of Nokia, who had worked on the MeeGo operating system which is almost forgotten now.
In last November, Jolla launched its Sailfish OS-powered smartphone in November last year and started shipping in late November 2013 via the web only from within the European Union. Currently is available worldwide from Jolla internet store.
The devices sports a 4.5-inch Estrade (540×960 pixels) display, and a 1.4GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor coupled with 1GB of RAM. It also has an 8-megapixel autofocus rear camera alongside an LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera as well. Apart from that it comes with 16GB of inbuilt storage (expandable via microSD card), and a 2100mAh battery.
It is compatible with Android apps, with access to Yandex and Aptoide Stores letting you install Android apps on the device. It also supports 4G.
Sailfish OS comes with a gesture-based user interface and hence the device comes without any buttons on the screen. You can do everything on the smartphone using gestures.
