LAVA has launched a new smartphone in India, called the Icon.
The device flaunts a 5 inch HD IPS display, with a luminance of 550 Cd/m2, which is a very high level of brightness.
The display is scratch resistant thanks to the Asahi Dragon-Trail glass. The LAVA Icon runs on Android 4.4 KitKat, with Lava Star OS on top, which offers customizable gesture controls, which allows the user to launch various tasks by drawing certain letters on the display, when it is in sleep mode.
The phone is powered by a 1.3 GHz Quad Core ARM processor, a Mali 400 MP2 GPU, and 2GB RAM. It comes with 16GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 32GB.
The LAVA Icon sports a 13 megapixel camera on the rear, with dual-LED flash and a SONY EXMOR sensor with 5P lens and a blue glass filter. The rear lens features a F2.0 aperture and 5P lens for low light photography and better color reproduction in images.
The front camera is a 5 megapixel lens with an Omni Vision sensor, F2.4 aperture, 4P lens, BSI-II sensor with blue glass filter. It has a face beauty mode for better selfies, and coffers a slew of other features including Face Detection, HDR, Panorama Mode, Smile Shot & Multi view which are usually found in professional DSLRs.
The Icon has a premium metallic look, and measures just 7.7 mm in thickness. The back panel has a glass finish. The Icon is backed by a 2,500 mAh battery, and is capable of 3G, Wi-Fi, Micro-USB, and Bluetooth connectivity.

The LAVA Icon has been priced at Rs. 11,990 and will be available exclusively on Snapdeal.com from 1PM on 9th April 2015. Customers who order the device from Snapdeal will get a free selfie stick. The phone will also be available via some selected retail stores in India.
