Lava, the Indian smartphone brand has announced its first Android Oreo Go edition device as Lava Z50 which will be available for sale in India starting mid-March 2018. It will be available at over 100,000 retail stores in black and gold colour options. Just in case if you are unaware, Android Go edition is the optimised version of Android by Google that runs on low-end hardware or entry-level smartphones with less than 1GB of RAM.
In terms of hardware, Lava Z50 sports a 4.5-inch display with 2.5D Curved Corning Gorilla Glass protection and is powered by 1.1 GHz Quad-core MediaTek MT6737m Processor along with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage along with support for expandable storage via MicroSD card. It runs on Android 8.0 (Oreo) Go Edition operating system.
In terms of camera, Lava Z50 features a 5 MP main rear camera and another 5 MP front shooter with flash for selfie & video calls. It includes Bokeh Mode in both the front and rear cameras by making the objects stand out from the background using the blur effect. It comes with search with support 10 major Indian languages (including Hindi) besides enabling search for images, weather and can also translate from search home screen.
Lava is yet to announce the price of this entry-level smartphone but is offering Rs. 2,000 cash back from Airtel as part of the telco’s Mera Pehla Smartphone initiative. It also comes with a 2-year warranty as we have seen with other Lava Z-Series smartphones.
