A couple of years ago, Lenovo stunned the World, by acquiring Motorola from Google.
Many people feared that it would be the end of Motorola, but thanks to its superb devices such as the Moto E, G, X, the Moto 360 smartwatch, and of course the Google Nexus 6, the company flourished.
However, the same cannot be said about Lenovo. Though it has tasted success in India, its phones have been outsold by rivals like Xiaomi, ASUS, and well, Motorola itself. And now it appears that the wheel of chance has spun around, and it is Lenovo Mobiles, which is being done away with. According to news reports coming out of China, Lenovo Mobiles is being dissolved, and instead Lenovo will be selling all of its phones under the Motorola brand name.
Chen Xudong, the President of Lenovo Mobile Group has reportedly said that, Lenovo Mobile will be merged into Motorola. “The new organizational structure will be immediately released,” he said in an interview.
It is believed that Lenovo’s subsidiary brand, ZUK, is also being merged into Motorola, and its high end phones such as the ZUK Z1 will continue to be sold online.
