The list of HTC devices which will get Android Pie Update has been announced by the company on its Twitter account today. In case you missed it, Google announced Android 9, named as Android Pie, earlier this week.
Here is the list of HTC devices which will get the OTA update.
List of HTC devices which will get Android Pie
- HTC U12+
- HTC U11+
- HTC U11 Life
- HTC U11
The update for the U11 Life will be the Android One variant. There is no roadmap for the Android Pie Update for HTC devices yet. The company has mentioned that it will be announced in due time.
Shockingly, there is a big name missing from the list of HTC devices which will get Android Pie. No prizes for guessing which device that is, because it is the HTC U Ultra. The device was announced in January 2017, and hence not even 2 years old. Has the HTC U Ultra reached its EOL already? Considering that the phone has similar specifications to the Pixel phone, it is unbelievable that the HTC U Ultra will not be updated to Android Pie.
The HTC U11 was available from June 2017, while the HTC Life and HTC U11+ were released in December 2017. The HTC U12+ was available from June 2018.
HTC used to be one of the first companies to roll out a major Android version update, soon after it was announced by Google. This has changed over the past few years, but this year has been quite different.
Google had partnered with several OEMs including Essential, OnePlus, Oppo, Sony, Vivo and Xiaomi, for beta testing Android P. And the Essential Phone has become the first non-Google phone to get the stable version of Android Pie. In fact, the Android Pie Update for the Essential Phone arrived on the same day that the operating system was announced.
This has set a very high trend, and we need to wait and see when the list of HTC devices which will get Android Pie actualy get the OTA update.
