Google has posted the Android Distribution Numbers for this month, and the statistics show that Lollipop is gaining momentum.
The latest version of the Android OS, now runs on 3.3% of devices.
That’s double the number compared to last month’s 1.6%. If you observe the above image, you will notice that while all other versions of Android have their numbers on the list, Lollipop just has Android 5.0 listed, while 5.0.2, which most of the Nexus, Motorola devices run on are missing.
It would also be unreasonable to expect Android 5.1 to appear on the list too, as it has only been made available for Android One devices, which was launched in Indonesia last month, and more recently for the Spice Dream Uno in India.
KitKat’s numbers grew by 1.2%, doubling the 0.6% improvement it saw between January and February. All other versions of Android, between Froyo and KitKat have been falling steadily. Speaking of which, isn’t is surprising to see Froyo hold on at 0.4%? Its been at that for a couple of months.
