HERE Maps, the popular voice guided offline navigation app, is now available at the Google Play Store.
The app was leaked earlier in October, but has now resurfaced in it’s official avatar.
Its still in beta, but should run fine on devices running on Android 4.1 and above. You can download maps for a region or country of your choice, and use it offline. Keep in mind that, the larger the area, the bigger the download. So make sure you have plenty of free space if you are going to download a huge map.
The app supports over 100 Countries, 118 to be precise. The 18 new ones added to the list are: Algeria, Angola, Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Cyprus, Iraq, Libya, Mauritania, Mauritius, Nepal, Paraguay, Saint Helena, Senegal, Sri Lanka, Suriname, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
You can search, navigate, and get turn-by-turn drive and walk voice guidance, without an Internet connection. This should provide some serious competition for Google Maps. It can even help you find restaurants and shops, and provide real time traffic and road closure information in many countries.
