Live video streaming app, Meerkat now has an official Android app.
But it is only available via a public beta test program.
Meerkat connects to your account on Twitter, to allow you to live stream a video to your followers. Meerkat launched just a month ago, and has gained popularity amongst iOS users.
Sadly though, it already has a rival in Twitter’s own live streaming service Periscope, which it acquired for about $100 Million. Twitter is notorious for killing off third party apps which uses its service, and it didn’t take long to limit Meerkat’s access to its social graph. This move prevented new Meerkat users from auto-following people they follow on Twitter. Twitter did this merely a few hours after it acquired Periscope.
If you want to try the Meerkat app on your Android device, head over to this Google form and fill it up, to request access for the beta test of the app.
