The starting range of entry-level smartphone market in India has fallen quite fast over the last 1-2 years. Till now, we have an entry-level price of Rs. 5,000 for a decent Smartphone, but it appears that OEM manufacturers are making that price barrier much lower. Micromax has just announced another entry-level smartphone i.e Canvas Spark 2 for a price of just Rs. 3,999. Canvas Spark 2 can be considered the next variant of the existing Canvas Spark which currently sells for Rs. 4,999.
Canvas Spark 2 sports a big 5-inch FWVGA IPS display and is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor (Mediatek CPU perhaps). The company is yet to specify the amount of RAM that powers the device, But we do hope that it is 1 GB and not 512 MB. We will update here when we get any response from Micromax.
Update: Micromax told us that the Canvas Spark 2 has 768MB of RAM.
The smartphone runs on the latest version of Android i.e Android 5.1 Lollipop and comes with 4 GB of internal storage along with support for expandable memory via microSD cards up to 32 GB.
In terms of camera, it comes with a 5 MP fixed focus rear camera and a 2 MP fixed focus front camera. Considering the price of the device, cameras at both front and rear will make it attractive to buyers.
The device a dual SIM device and is powered by a decent 1800 mAh battery. In terms of connectivity, it supports 3G, Bluetooth 4.0, and Wi-Fi.
