Micromax is aiming for a comeback in India. The company has teased the launch of a new franchise called the Micromax In series of phones.
A teaser video shared by the brand on Twitter is captioned “Aao Karein Cheeni Kum”, which translates to come, let’s reduce sugar. Except Cheeni in this case doesn’t refer to sugar, but a not so subtle dig at the Chinese dominated smartphone market in India.
Here is an image of the Micromax In series phone box, shared by the brand’s Founder and CEO, Rahul Sharma.
Micromax is marketing the series as Made in India phones, and is using the popular hashtag Aatmanirbhar Bharat for the same. This is a little odd coming from a company which has in the past rebranded Chinese phones.
Now, coming back to the Micromax In series phones, a report by The Mobile Indian reveals that the franchise will debut with 2 devices. Though the names of these handsets remain a mystery, their specs have been leaked.
Micromax In series phones specs
One of these phones will be powered by a MediaTek Helio G35 processor, and is backed by a 5000mAh battery. The phone runs on stock Android and is equipped with a 6.5-inches HD+ display. The In series phone will be available in two variants: 2GB of RAM and 3GB of RAM, both with 32GB storage.
However, there some differences between the two models in the camera department. The 2GB version has dual cameras comprising a 13MP primary lens and a 2MP secondary sensor. The selfie lens on the phone is said to be an 8MP snapper. The 3GB variant on the other hand has three cameras, with the third lens being a 5MP sensor. The front camera on this model is a 13MP selfie lens.
The other In series phone will feature a superior MediaTek Helio G85 chipset. But its specs are unknown. The report claims that the devices will be priced between Rs. 7,000 to Rs. 15,000.
The Micromax In series phone launch date has been set for November 3rd, at 12 noon.
