Less than a week after rebranding Acompli Email as Microsoft Outlook for Android and iOS, Microsoft is in the news again about acquiring another app.
A report has emerged which says that Microsoft has acquired Sunrise Calendar App for $100 Million.
Sunrise Calendar is a popular app which is available across Android, iOS and Mac, and offers synchronization support for calendar services of Google, iCloud, and Microsoft Exchange. It’s excellent features combined with a gorgeous UI and support for third party apps, made sure it attracted an enormous amount of users, and the attention of Microsoft.
The report also says that Microsoft will retain Sunrise Calendar as a standalone app. And quite frankly, Microsoft has done a good job with Acompli, and other apps it acquired, Skype for example, still remains a popular app, not just on Windows devices, but also on Android and iOS.
Sunrise Calendar was updated today, and is now available for Android Tablets. The update has also added support for 25,000 calendars for holidays, sport teams, name days, week numbers, and more. They are all available for free, and can be added from Settings > Interesting Calendars.

I recommend giving the app a whirl so you can get a taste of it, before Microsoft adds more features to the already awesome app.
