Microsoft have hinted that they may bring Cortana, to Android and iOS devices.
Cortana is Microsoft Windows Phone Virtual Assistant, and was named after the AI (Artificial Intelligence) character of the same name, in the popular video game series, Halo.
The unofficial statement to bring Cortana to other platforms, was made at the SMX Advanced 2014 event in Seattle, during a Keynote.
Marcus Ash, the group program manager for Windows Phone, said,
“We want to scale Cortana internationally and across devices. The Android/iOS question is interesting. We’re asking, would Cortana be as effective if she didn’t have access to the details on your phone? We’re still trying to get Cortana adopted on Windows Phone and figure out what it wants to become there. But we’re actively talking about this.”
Though nothing is concrete at the moment, Microsoft may be focused on rolling Cortana, for Windows Phone users in other Countries. Currently the app and the service, are only available for users in the U.S.
So we may have to wait a while for Cortana for Android and iOS.
