Microsoft has officially announced that Windows 10 will be arriving this summer.
So, what does that have to do with Android anyway? Well, the Redmond based company, is working with Xiaomi to test Windows 10 on the Mi 4.
A Windows 10 ROM on an Android phone? Now, you’re talking!
Here is what the official announcement on the Windows blog says:
Through a new program with Xiaomi, one of the top smartphone distributors in the world, a select group of Xiaomi Mi 4 power users will be invited to help test Windows 10 and contribute to its future release later this year. These power users will have the opportunity to download the Windows 10 Technical Preview – installing it and providing their feedback to Microsoft.
Microsoft will provide free Windows 10 downloads for a group of Xiaomi Mi 4 users in China, as part of the Windows Insider Program. These users will be able to flash Windows 10 on their phones and provide feedback to Microsoft and Xiaomi.
According to TechCrunch, the Windows 10 ROM isn’t a dual boot option, but a full fledged custom OS based on Windows 10, with Microsoft services.
There is no ETA when the ROM would be available yet.
