Microsoft had acquired the email and calendar app Acompli, in December 2014.
And in less than two months after the acquisition, they have rebranded the Acompli app and released it as Outlook for Android.
However, this is just a preview version, and will be updated with more features and performance tweaks, and will shed the Preview label soon.
Outlook keeps your inbox clean by surfacing your most important email by putting them in the “Focused”inbox, while the less relevant ones are sent to your “Other” inbox. This is kind of like Priority Inbox.
You can swipe on messages to delete, archive, or schedule them, just like Acompli used to have. The app also brings together email, calendar, contacts and files, just like the PC version of Outlook does.
Microsoft has to be praised for retaining Acompli’s integration of cloud services Google Drive and Dropbox, which are direct rivals of it’s own OneDrive.
Download Outlook for Android from Google Play.
(Note: It replaces the older Outlook.com app.)

The app is compatible with all devices running on Android 4.0 or above.
