Xiaomi has begun rolling out the MIUI 11 Update for Redmi 6, in India. The firmware comes a bit late, if you compare it to what was promised in the roadmap that was announced in October.
The Redmi 6 was among the devices that should have received the update in Phase 2, which ran from November 4th to the 12th. While there had been no word about the delay in the process, today Xiaomi took to Twitter to confirm that the firmware has been released officially.
What’s new in the MIUI 11 Update for Redmi 6
The update brings all the goodies from the latest custom Android skin to the affordable handset. That means you’re getting the redesigned interface which looks cleaner, dynamic nature sounds which plays a different sound when you receive notifications, new wallpaper carousel, etc.

The build number of the MIUI 11 Update for Redmi 6 is V11.0.1.0.PCGMIXM. The download size of the stable ROM is about 1.3GB. It’s only about 508MB when upgrading from MIUI 10. The full ROM is available from the official Mi Community website.
Many users have reported that they have received the update notification. You could try checking for updates manually by navigating to the Settings > About Phone > System Update screen.
