The MIUI 11 update for Redmi K20 is rolling out in India as promised in the MIUI roadmap. We got the update on our phone yesterday and here is what’s new in it.

The version number of the update is MIUI 11.0.2.0.PFJINXM and it is about 766MB to download (from MIUI 10.3.8).
The Redmi K20 now has the September Android Security patch with the MIUI 11 update. This is still based on Android 9 Pie mind you, and not Android 10.
The update adds a lot of new features to the table such as a Floating Calculator, Tasks and Reminders in the Notes app, a built-in Document Viewer in the file manager.
There are new sounds for alarms and notifications which are based on a nature theme. The update brings various improvements for the phone including optimizations for the fingerprint scanner response, lock screen pocket mode, DND, Game Turbo, App vault, etc.
The Redmi K20 gets some exclusive features for the always-on display which you can find under Settings > Ambient display and Lock Screen. The breathing light brings a Samsung Edge lighting-like experience to the Redmi K20 for notifications. It doesn’t pulsate continuously, it just blinks for a second or so.
There are quite a few designs for the “Blossom” Kaleidescope and new designs for the lock screen clock. You can use your own signature messages as well.

We have been using MIUI 11 on the Redmi K20 for about 20 hours and it has been a good experience.
