Xiaomi has begun rolling out an update for its flagship phone, the Xiaomi Mi 4 and last year’s Mi 3.
Don’t get too excited, because it is still MIUI 6.
The MIUI 6 Update 6.6.4.0.KXDMICF has been officially rolled out to the global variants of the Mi 4 and Mi 3, and downloads a pre-update package around 3MB (2.x MB approx), following which the ROM download begins. You can manually check for the update by opening the updater app on your phone, or by navigating to Settings > About Phone > System Updates.
The update weighs at around 633 MB. You can download it manually from Xiaomi’s servers as well.

There is no change-log available for the update yet, but early reviews suggest that the firmware has better RAM management, with around 2GB of free RAM available (in the Mi 4). I am downloading the new firmware and will observe the performance and update this post with my experience soon.
The MIUI 6 Update 6.6.4.0.KXDMICF update comes ahead of the MIUI 7 Update (Developer version) for global devices, which is scheduled to roll out on Monday, August 24th.
