Online retailer Flipkart has announced that the last stock of the Moto G is on sale at their webstore now.
The retailer was the exclusive partner of Motorola in selling the company’s phones.
The announcement comes in the wake of reports that the Moto G2 is going to be unveiled on September 5, along with the Moto X+1, and launch a new smartwatch and a bluetooth headset.
A journalist tweeted the following photo, suggesting that Motorola could be launched new devices in India on the same date, at an event in New Delhi.
Notice the similarities between the two invites? So, Motorola must be planning to launch the new devices, simultaneously in India, and in America. This is a a smart move, considering the business they have done in India, which is probably their biggest market.
Another key factor contributing to the discontinuation of the Moto G, is the heated competition it faced from the recently launched Xiaomi Mi 3 and the ASUS Zenfone 5, both of which have better displays and cameras in a similar price range. It led to a Rs. 2,000 price cut on both variants of the Moto G.
Even though it may be tempting to get a phone from the last stock, I advise saving your money for it’s successor. It is rumored to sport a 5″ Display, and an 8 megapixel camera, while holding on to rest of it’s predecessor’s specs.
