Moto G, the popular mid-range phone, has it’s price cut by Rs. 2000, in India.
Flipkart has slashed the prices on the 8GB and 16GB variants, barely 6 months after it made it’s debut on February 5th.
The original prices of the Moto G 16 GB was Rs. 13,999, and the 8 GB variant was Rs.12499. The price drop only applies to the Moto G, and not the Moto X, and obviously not to the entry level Moto E.
So, it is pretty easy to deduce why they slashed the prices of the phone. The simple answer would be the competition from the Xiaomi Mi 3, a more powerful phone, which had been priced similarly at Rs.13,999. The Moto G also felt the heat from the Zenfone series, particularly the ASUS Zenfone 5.
If you have been hesitating to buy the Moto G, I can’t see a better time than now, as the price of the phone is unlikely to drop any further.
You can now buy the Moto G 16 GB variant for Rs. 11,999, or the 8 GB variant for Rs. 10,499.
Personally as a Moto G user, I’d recommend readers to go for the ASUS Zenfone 5 8GB, as it offers twice the RAM, support for external memory card (up to 64 GB), and a larger screen for just Rs. 9,999 (8 GB) and Rs. 12,999 for the 16 GB variant. You can read our hands-on review about it here.
