Flipkart teased the launch of the Motorola Moto Maxx, aka the Droid Turbo, in India last month.
It has been really quiet on the news front, until today.
In an interview with the Economic Times, Motorola’s India Head, Amit Boni said
We will be launching the Moto Turbo for our consumers, which has the latest Qualcomm processor, high-resolution 21MP camera and long-lasting battery life with a 3900mAh battery, and is built on pure Android for the fastest, most flexible and easiest user experience. The price will be worth it.
So, it is confirmed that the Moto Maxx will be sold as the Moto Turbo in India.
Why not the Droid Turbo, you ask? Well, it is because American telco, Verizon Wireless, holds the trademark and copyrights for “Droid”, which they acquired from Lucasfilm, the company behind Star Wars franchise, which featured robots called as “Droids”.
