By now you will probably be aware that Lenovo is doing away with the Moto X series, and replacing it with a higher end Moto Z series. Well, the photos of the phone and three of its modular accessories have been leaked.
Renown leakster, Evan Blass, who leaked the images, suggested that the devices are the new DROIDs (Verizon names?). Well the word DROID can clearly be seen beneath the camera. And the accessories are called MotoMods.
Look at the phones, and you will notice the unusual speaker grille. This is touted to be an attachment port for the mods to clip on. that does make sense, though the hideous camera with the Moto 360-ish design, (complete with the flat tire), does make the device look very odd. The devices themselves seem to have a full metal design, with three equally sized buttons, which are probably the power and volume rocker keys. The back panel of the Moto Z seems to have fine horizontal lines, probably for a better grip.
The first back panel mod, which is clearly a camera mod, seems to have a real camera-ish design with a curved ergonomical edge on the right. There seems to be a shutter button, and possibly a zoom button and auto focus, optical zoom with large aperture lens, and a rectangular LED Flash strip.
The second mod could be a stand, with the metal piece sticking out a bit, but the camera hole is a bit large, which suggests it could be a something else. And the third mod, which has a patterned back, could be a battery add-on, but the button on it is a bit confusing, perhaps, it is used to detach the back panel.
Regardless of what the mods are, they are quite innovative, yet a bit quirky. We will hopefully know more, when Moto (Lenovo) launches the devices on June 9th.
