It has been seven months since Lollipop was released, but the Moto X 1st Gen is still running KitKat.
Motorola has broken the silence on the Update’s status, in a statement from one of their employees.
David Schuster, the Senior Director of Software Project Management at Motorola, announced the news on Google+. He acknowledged that users have been asking Motorola about the update status for a long time. He also said that many users were frustrated and some were very angry about the delay in the update process. Schuster points the finger of blame towards Motorola’s partners, saying that the update has been delayed because of lack of support from them. He is talking about the telecom service providers, aka carriers.
Schuster also says that Motorola has started testing the TestDrive (Soak Test) for the Moto X 1st Gen, in the U.S and Latin America. The update will roll out to the general public in the coming weeks.
