The Nexus leaks are unstoppable, and now it is the turn of another software feature to find itself in the spotlight, before the 2016 devices make their debut. Google is reportedly taking a leaf out of Huawei’s book, to add a popular feature from the Chinese OEM’s devices, a swipe fingerprint scanner gesture.
The 2016 Nexus devices, aka the HTC Sailfish and the HTC Marlin will support the new swipe fingerprint scanner gesture, which will display the notifications shade.
The above image, courtesy Android Police, shows how the swipe gesture in action. And that press render, does look official. The Electric Blue colour seen in the image is apparently one of the colours the devices will be available in.
See the odd shaped home button there? That is the flower home button, whose animation is bugged, but it still believed to be under development and could ship with the Nexus devices.
Personally, we would like the fingerprint scanner to support customizable gestures and shortcuts for apps. That would be more useful in my opinion.
